Back Forty Artisan CheeseThank you you for your interest in Back Forty Artisan Cheese. This spring, Jeff and Jenna Fenwick have taken over the helm of Back Forty Artisan Cheese located in the beautiful Lanark Highlands.

Founded on a small sheep farm in 1999 by James Keith and his late wife Elizabeth Harker, Back Forty Artisan Cheese has grown into a local favourite amongst cheese lovers and has become a leading producer in Ontario of high quality, hand-made, raw ewe milk cheeses.

For the past several months, James has been working closely with Jeff to pass down the secrets of his award-winning cheeses. Jeff will be continuing production of Back Forty’s traditional recipes, Highland Blue, Flower Station, Bonnechere, and Madawaska. With a long time passion for the culinary arts, Jeff is also looking forward to the creation of his own unique cheeses.

Back Forty cheeses have earned numerous accolades and have been featured in a host of newspaper and magazine articles as well as radio and television programs – our Highland Blue even made the cover of the LCBO's Food and Drink magazine.

In addition to the many quality restaurants and fine food retailers listed on our site, you can purchase Back Forty Artisan Cheese at the Carp Farmers Market all summer long. Be sure to drop by early as each batch is hand-made and quantities are limited.
